The city of Baghdad, which is now known as the capital of the State of Iraq. Has a very interesting history. Starting in 762-767 AD this city was founded by the Abbasid Caliphate which at that time was led by Caliph Al-Mansur. Before the existence of the Baghdad area, the Mesotamia region (Part of the Baghdad area) was once controlled by the ancient peoples of Babylonia and Selucia. After Islam came in the 7th century AD to the Mesopotamian region, the Mesopotamian region was slowly controlled by Islam, the Islamic region where the Abbasid dynasty was founded. Previously, Baghdad was just a village in the middle of the Persian region inhabited by people. Persian, but by Caliph Al-Mansur it was made the capital. Because of the founding of the Abbasid dynasty, one of the reasons was that it was in the middle of the Persian region and close to the capital of the old Persian kingdom, namely Stesifon. And in 762 AD Baghdad was finally founded and completed in 766 AD.
It is believed that the name Baghdad is taken from the Pesian language which means "God's Gift" (Bagh, God and dad, Gift). Baghdad is also known as the "round city" because the walls were built around the city. One of the interesting things about the city of Baghdad is its very detailed architecture. Starting from the wall which is 24 meters high with 3 layers of walls. The city walls of Baghdad were made almost perfectly circular. Baghdad is also known as a center for the development of science and culture. This could happen because Baghdad was in a very strategic position and was also included in international trade routes at that time. Many traders from all over the world entered Baghdad. At the time the Baghdad government was quite famous for being strict in monitoring the entry of goods or people into Baghdad.
